Fuel economy and maximum driving range of the 2019 Kia Optima
Kia is a model brand that has your best interests in mind behind the wheel, whether that entails a fast, carefree driving experience (see: Stinger) or one that’s more concerned with efficiency and intelligence. Make no mistake, the new 2019 Kia Optima is well-equipped to give you an exciting drive, but you won’t sacrifice any well-earned gas while pressing the pedal. To see what we mean, check out the fuel economy and maximum driving range of the 2019 Kia Optima today – you’re sure to love what it can do between fill-ups!
2019 Kia Optima gas mileage ratings and full highway range
There are three engines available for the 2019 Optima (which we’ve documented), but as its 2.4-liter four-cylinder is the most economical, that’s the one we’ll be focusing on for this piece. It’s able to achieve upwards of 27 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway, placing the Optima in the upper ranks of today’s mid-size sedan options.
Fuel efficiency ratings by themselves don’t really tell the whole story, however – the bigger the tank size, the longer you’re able to drive on a full one, obviously. That’s why the Optima is so impressive in this regard as well – its tank can handle a maximum fuel capacity of 18.5 gallons.
That means that a full driving range of 685 miles isn’t out of the question – in fact, you could realistically make a trip from our Racine office to Memphis, Tennessee without needing to pull over. That’s over half the height of the country!
