2018 Kia Sorento vs. 2017 Kia Sorento

2018 Kia Sorento vs. 2017 Kia Sorento

The Kia Sorento is a versatile and road-cleaving SUV with the power to handle rugged off-road surfaces and the finesse to get up to 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. Whether you like to take the whole family on a road trip with the room for seven passengers, or go mudding for an extreme drive, the Sorento does it all at a nice price!

The 2018 Kia Sorento is a carryover from the 2017 model year, so they both come with seven trim options, a base horsepower of 185 in the L and LX trims and a peak power of 290 HP in the top-line trims that come with a V6 engine. They both also have the same towing power, with the ability to haul up to 5,000 pounds in the trims with a V6 engine (LX V6, EX V6, SX V6 and SXL V6). Where the big difference in the two model years occurs is in the mid-line EX trim, as we'll see below!

Come See for Yourself Why the Kia Sorento is Such a Great SUV in Racine WI

The EX trim of the Kia Sorento is a hybrid between the base L and the top-line SXL V6 trims, with a nice amount of power at 240 HP and fuel economy at 20 mpg city/27 mpg highway, and with towing power that is in the middle range of the Sorento's abilities as it is able to haul up to 3,500 pounds. But for the 2018 model year, the EX trim has an expanded package of driver-assist and safety features that come standard, with Blind-Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert now standard in 2018. In addition, the Rear-Camera Display feature is now standard in all trims in 2018; it was not included in the base trim of the 2017 Sorento.

The 2017 Sorento is a capable SUV with the power and versatility to make any trip smooth, and the 2018 Sorento comes with some added safety features, among other improvements – but both are affordably-priced and great SUVs!
